How to display battery percentage in Android 5.0 upward

00:09 By

Allow me to remind us that this trick only works for Android Lollipop 5.0 upwards. This ia because other android versions already have this function so there is no need to configure.
BEFORE

AFTER

Now back to the matter, the secret of this configuration is that it uses what is called "UI tuner" which is hidden in the settings. After unlocking the UI tuner you will be able to diaplay battery configuration like this below.

To unlock UI tuner, draw down the screen of your phone like this below:

You can see the settings icon at the top right of the screen? Hold down this icon for up to 10 seconds and release till you see the following message like this:  "System UI tuner has been added to settings"

Now go to settings and locate system UI tuner at the bottom of the screen. Inside the UI settings "on" show embedded battery percentage". There you have it. The battery percentage will be on display just like that. If you want to turn off UI tuner hold down the settings icon at the drawer for up to 10 seconds and release. As easy as that. Hope you found this useful? If you have any complaint drop your comment below. Dont forget to share.

Checkout Samsung's new UFS memory card with super fast speed

04:28 By

New UFS memory cards leave microSD in the dust in terms of speed, but it will be a while before they become common.

Samsung announced today the industry’s first memory cards based on the UFS removable card standard. The new standard was finalized in March by JEDEC, an industry body that develops standards used in the semiconductor industry, and is based on UFS 2.0.

UFS 2.0 is the internal storage standard that is designed to replace the more common, and slower, e-MMC standard. Samsung used UFS 2.0 memory for the first time on the Galaxy S6.

Now Samsung brings the same super-fast standard to removable storage. The Korean company announced UFS cards ranging from 32GB to 256GB with read/write speeds that range from twice to hundreds of times higher than microSD.

Specifically, the 256GB UFS card provides sequential read speeds of up to 530MB/s, which is five times higher than the typical microSD, according to Samsung. This read speed puts the UFS card in the same league with the most common SSD drives on the market. In terms of random reading, UFS cards are 20 times faster than typical microSDs.

The performance improvement carries over to write speeds: random write speeds (35,000 random IOPS) are a whopping 350X higher than microSD. Sequential write speeds (170MB/s) are almost twice as high as typical microSDs.

Samsung says that devices equipped with UFS cards can read a 5GB movie in 10 seconds, compared to 50 seconds for a 95MB/s microSD card. UFS cards can write 24 large JPG images in 7 seconds, compared to 32 seconds for a UHS-1 microSD.

Samsung says UFS cards will be used in “high-resolution mobile shooting devices such as DSLRs, 3D VR cameras, action cams and drones.”

Notably absent are smartphones. It’s possible that Samsung doesn’t want to create the expectation that its upcoming mobile devices, especially theNote 7, will feature UFS card slots. But in theory, there’s nothing stopping Samsung and other manufacturers from equipping their devices with UFS support.

Now for the big caveat: UFS cards don’t appear to be compatible with microSD card slots. Their shape and pin layout are different. And for now, there are no devices on the market that can accept UFS cards. Surely, that will change over the next years, but the ubiquitous microSD will remain the standard for electronics devices for a while.

Again, we have to stress that Samsung did not mention any smartphone applications in the press release announcing the new UFS card line. That’s why we think that the Galaxy Note 7 will stick with microSD. But that may change with the 2017 crop of flagship phones.

Getting the right Power Bank for your Smart phone

23:43 By

Portable power banks (external battery packs) are a popular accessory for smartphone users. They are basically a big battery in a plastic case with a USB port. You can use them to recharge you smartphone when you aren’t near mains electricity or when you want to charge your phone while on the go. The main characteristics of a portable charger is its capacity, quoted in milliamp hours (mAh). This come in all shapes and sizes from around 2,000 mAh to 20,000 mAh and beyond.
So if you have a device like the Infinix Hot 2, which has a 2,200 mAh battery, how much capacity do you need in an external battery pack? 2,200 mAh, right? Wrong! Let me explain

Sadly, many people are fond of purchasing power banks without any idea what there battery capacity is. Before getting a power bank you need to consider the capacity of your battery. Is it of 2000mAh capacity or higher? This is important because it gives you an insight into what kind of Power bank you need to buy. The capacity of a batter can be found written on it.

Now, if your device has a 2000mAh battery capacity, buy a power bank with at least 2500mAh. If you buy a 4500mAh model, it means you can charge your 2000mAh phone at least twice. In any case, opt for the highest capacity that your budget allows.

Secondly, check 'current draw'. Older phones do not draw more than 1 Ampere to charge their batteries. However, newer handsets and tablets need a 2.1 Ampere input current. Check your mobile's original plug for details on current draw. If possible, buy a powerbank with two USB ports — 1A and 2.1A. when it comes to charging your gadgets, current draw is more important than capacity.

Also pay attention to the type of cells — Lithium-ion or Lithium-polymer — used in the power bank. Li-ion is cheap and easily available. Li-poly cells, on the other hand, are more expensive, but provide twice as much charge density per unit weight.

Last but not the least, ensure that you buy from a reputed brand. Low-quality lithium-ion power banks not only effect performance, but are also a potential hazard. Many times, cheap battery packs — the type available on the streets — do not list the correct mAh capacity or the proper current draw. These batteries could also explode due to heating from over charging. For improved safety and performance, buy a model that comes with over voltage protection (OVP), over charge protection (OCP) and over-temperature protection (OTP) that ensure its longevity against spurts in current, and over heating during charging and discharging.

If you have anymore advice on choosing the right Power bank for a phone, pls drop your comments below. Hope this post was useful? Do other people the favour by sharing this!

How to protect your Smart Phone

14:58 By

So you just got an Android smart phone, you show it off to your friends and they all congratulate you (because the deal is that big, oh yes!). They all want to see its capability, all want to take selfies with it but there are some people eh, enemies of progress, they are planning of taking such precious gadget away from you (Awon iranu!). What you use your hard earned money to purchase. You are smart to know your phone isnt safe But the thing is you havnt figured out how to guard it. The fact is everybody wants a smart phone(Android Smart phone) but only few people know how to treat it right. This is why ROIDIFY is here, to give you tips and advice on how you can safekeep your smartphone and avoid falling victim of phone thieves, malwares and pryers alike. so lets begin.

1. Get a screen guard/phone case

These accessories are vital for protecting your phone. There are two types of screen; the black plastic-like one and the extra glass screen. they are both good and serve the same purpose. The screen guard is an extra screen for your phone, it protects the original screen from scratch, it also protects it from breaking incase it falls. The phone case on the other hand protects the overall body of the phone from damage.  A screen guard costs about N300 to N1000 depending on the type(plastic or glass).

2. Use a secure lock screen

Sadly in this day and age many Android smart phone users still dont lock there phones. Even if its a basic pin. You cabdo this by navigating to settings>security>screen lock then follow the instructions. You can lock your phone using password, pattern or pin unless your phone comes with a finger print locker like the Nexus 6P or biometric eye scanner like the new Tecno Camon C9. I advice password is changed regularly to be on the safer side.

3. Password your apps

Yes! You can password some of your apps to be on a safer side from prying eyes. For example, I password my Whatsapp because it contains personal messages I think should be seen by some other people. You can also password your games so it you dont want others to gain access and spoil your market.

4. Be careful of what you install on your phone

Whilst it can often be a nice idea to download and install apps that aren't found on the App Store or Google Play Store, these apps tend to be the ones that are less secure. Google keep tabs on the apps that are on their app portals. This means apps that contain malicious code are likely to have been removed before you install them.

5. Install antivirus

If you are naughty and choose to install apps from unsecured sources(like me :-D). Do your phone a favour and install an anti-virus. This may not only warn you of malware threats but also help in eradicating them. The likes of McAfee, AVG and Lookout grace the Google Play store for added security, but obviously be careful of any apps that seem suspicious.

6. Do not root your phone

This is suppose to be number one on this list because rooting has become a norm among smart phone users these days without knowing the after effect and damage being done. The thing is after rooting a phone, the softwares that were written to provide guaranteed security wont work anymore. This is just one of the effects of rooting. There are others.

7. Update your phone

There are people that ones they get a smartphone they dont care about updating it. our phone is our everyday gadget and they deserve to be treated better. Updates are very important be it android system updates, app updates from Google play store or just carrier security updates. Every update comes with an added security so it is adviceble to update your phone regularly.

I hope you find these tips useful, if you have additional advice on Smartphone maintenace drop your comments below for others to learn. Thank you.

Is Airtel unlimited 2G data a scam?

06:48 By

Sometime ago, one of Nigeria's biggest telecommunication provider Airtel released what many people agree to be the craziest data bundle offer. This include unlimited internet access for just N200 for 14 days and N500 for 28 days. The downside of this is that it only works for 2G network. This data can be activated by dialing *⁴8²# and selecting the preferred data offer.

I couldn't believe it and decided to go for a try,(what could possibly go wrong eh?) Anyways, i opted for the N200 option and started surfing.
Hmm lehme open Twitter, at first i thought it was just the network service. I restarted my phone but it was still the same. So this thing cannot load Twitter, a whole Twitter. Even to load WhatsApp na war. I felt terribly disappointed and decided to write a topic on this issue. Have you tried using the airtel data? What's your say? Please share your opinion through the comment box down below. Thank you.

BlackBerry is working on 3 new Android phones

19:36 By

Blackberry is said to be working on three Android smart phones. According to a person briefed on the company’s plans, the Canadian manufacturer will be releasing one phone per quarter for the next three quarters.
Codenamed Neon, Argon, and Mercury, the trio will target a range of form factors and price points, according to the briefed individual.

Neon

Neon will be the first of these devices to hit the public. It’s a 5.2-inch midranger that lacks BlackBerry’s signature physical keyboard. This aluminum-frame device is said to have a soft-coated plastic back and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC. Reportedly, Neon will have 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and will be juiced by a 2610mAh battery. Cameras will be 13MP and 8MP offerings. We can expect this device as early as July or August.

Argon

Argon should hit the market next, and it looks to be the powerhouse of these three devices. We won’t see it until October, but this 5.5-inch device is angled toward the premium market with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4 gigs of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 3000mAh battery capable of QC 3.0. Argon will have a 21MP primary camera and an 8MP selfie-snapper, and it will be unlockable via fingerprint scanner. Like Neon (and unlike the Priv), Argon will not have a physical keyboard.

Mercury

Mercury, however, will have a physical keyboard. This smaller device feels like a callback to BlackBerry’s roots with a 4.5 inch screen and a non-concealable physical keyboard riding along the bottom. This aluminium device is powered by 3GB of RAM running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, and the internal storage clocks in at 32GB. The battery is an impressive 3400mAh offering, and its rear and front cameras are 18MP and 8MP respectively. We’ve still got a while before we see Mercury, which is allegedly coming to the market in early 2017.

What is on my phone

18:27 By

Whatsup guys! Today am going to be showing you what kind of android phone I use plus the different setups I have and why I choose to use them. Lets start with the type of phone I use. I currently use a 5 month old not so all mighty Infinix Hot 2.
1. Phone Type: Infinix Hot 2
Ram: 1gb
Os: Android 6.0 (AndroidOne)
Storage space: 11gb
Battery: 2800mah

Some of you may ask out of all the countless smartphone, why did I choose to date infinix. the answer is pretty simple; AndroidOne.

Yes, Infinix Hot 2 is currently the only AndroidOne phone in Africa and it seems pretty cool to be one of the few Android users who are serviced directly by Google.

2. My home Screen and menu

I love my home screen simple and less clumcy. I mean who doesn't like a simple life eh?

3. Laucher and Icon pack
I use the famous Nova launcher because its fast, material and simple.
For Icon pack its Phix Icon pack.

Phix is filled with clean colourful material icons and contains over 3000 icons and 90 wallpapers. Phix is available in the Google play Store. You can download the two apps here:
